New Japanese Sashiko Coasters

We launched our first Sashiko items, made by Mr. Ohazama in Fukushima prefecture.

This coaster is made using Sashiko — a traditional Japanese craft in which a fine, detailed thread is woven through the fabric to increase strength and warmth, resulting in beautiful geometric patterns.

Sashiko comes from the Tohoku region of northern Japan, but the craft is disappearing. Mr.Kenichi Ohazama is now the only remaining artisan in Japan making textiles using this process. Individual package for each piece.

100% Cotton,  11x11cm
